Andy Brown is a BAFTA and VES-nominated Production Visual Effects Supervisor with over 30 years’ experience designing and supervising VFX for film and episodic. Based in Australia, he works across local and international productions.
Recent work includes The Survivors (Netflix), three seasons of La Brea (NBCUniversal) and Deadloch Season 2 (Amazon).
His experience covers the full production pipeline, from script breakdown and developing VFX methodologies through budgeting, previs, on-set supervision and virtual production, to VFX post-production and final delivery. His approach is practical and design-led, working closely with directors, producers and HODs to determine what needs to be shot, what can be achieved practically and where VFX can best support the director’s ideas and the story.
On-set experience includes Black Panther (Marvel Studios), World Trade Center (Paramount), The Great Gatsby and Sucker Punch (Warner Bros.), Moulin Rouge! and Australia (Fox), Jane Campion’s Holy Smoke and Zhang Yimou’s Hero and House of Flying Daggers.
His background in compositing, design and VFX art direction informs his approach to supervision. He has led the development of environments, creatures and highly designed worlds, including work with Baz Luhrmann and Catherine Martin on Moulin Rouge! and The Great Gatsby.
On Dora and the Lost City of Gold, Andy supervised VFX for the Australian shoot on the Gold Coast before continuing through post with Mill Film in Adelaide, taking the work from planning and shooting through to final VFX.
Andy spent more than two decades at Animal Logic as a Senior Compositor, Art Director and VFX Supervisor, working across Australian and international productions. He later joined Method Studios as VFX Supervisor on Black Panther.
